Texen’s updated greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets approved by SBTi
28 Jul 2026
Texen proudly announces that its medium- and long-term targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)* in 2025, have been updated and approved in June 2026. This reflects the company’s dedication to actively contributing to the fight against climate change and achieving Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050, in line with the European Green Deal.
A strong commitment to climate action
For many years, Texen has been measuring its GHG emissions. Since 2021, the company has been using the GHG Protocol methodology, utilising data from ADEME and ECOINVENT databases. Its climate roadmap covers all emissions linked to its activities: direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and all emissions throughout its value chain (Scope 3**).
SBTi-approved targets
The SBTi has validated Texen’s ambitious targets:
– Net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050.
– Near-term targets (2030): reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (from a 2021 base year) by 80% and Scope 3 (from a 2023 base year) by 25%.
– Long-term targets (2050): reduce absolute Scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions (from a 2021 base year) and Scope 3 (from a 2023 base year) by 90%.
A concrete and ambitious action plan
To achieve its GHG emissions reduction targets, Texen has implemented or is exploring several measures, including:
– The deployment of renewable energy contracts at sites with the highest carbon intensity (Poland and Mexico).
– Reducing gas consumption, for example, by optimising temperature setpoints in air-handling units on surface treatment lines or by installing systems for heat recovery.
– Using recycled plastics, which have lower emissions compared to virgin materials, in new product developments.
Promising results
Texen has already reduced its carbon emissions by 71% in Scopes 1 and 2 between 2021 and 2025. This achievement demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving the ecological transition within the industry.
“In 2023, we committed to the SBTi to set science-based GHG emissions reduction targets. After several months of work, our trajectory towards Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 was validated in January 2025. This milestone is a key step of our decarbonisation roadmap, aligned with our CSR strategy. But beyond the strategy, these targets reflect our commitment to partnering with our clients to face the challenge of climate change together,” said Dorian Goux, HSE Coordinator at Texen.
*The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It promotes best practices for achieving Net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The SBTi independently assesses and validates companies’ science-based targets to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
** Scope 3 targets include GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting and end-of-life treatment of sold products.
